Most convenient way to sell furniture when moving?
I am in the process of helping my mom get ready to move from a large house to a much smaller condominium. She has a lot of nice furniture that will not fit into the new condo. It’s probably too nice to sell in a garage sale, but at the same time there isn’t really enough for an estate sale.
Is there any other way to sell decent furniture?
Thanks!
I agree with the person below me, put it on craigslist. I’ve found that it is the easiest way to get rid of just about anything. Just make sure that if you’re firm on your price that you put that in your ad, or you’ll get a lot of hopefuls that will in turn get YOUR hopes up that you have it sold and it’s just not fun to deal with.
craigslist… i buy my stuff from there all the time

Yard sale or consignment shops other than online.

If it is quite a bit of stuff have an auction.
Check your local phone book for auction services. Some of them have what they call consignment auctions. Several people who want to sell things will bring them to the auction service and sell them at auction. An auction service may hold these once or twice a week at their place of business.
Consignment auctions are a good place to go if you want to buy or sell. Sometimes the things sold go for more money than they are worth and sometimes they sell for less. It’s not knowing whether you will get a bargain or not that makes an auction fun. You can get addicted to both buying and selling.
Sometimes people who own second hand furniture stores will go to a consignment auction to bid on things they want to sell in their stores.
The best case scenario for you would be to have two people who are mad at each other bidding against each other on your stuff. Another thing that is fun to watch at an auction.
The auction service will charge a percentage of what your stuff brings for their fee. You may get far more for your stuff than you planned you may get less. I would just check them out and form your own opinion.
