Bad Condo Sale. The place use to have mold?

I recently purchased a condo from this crazy man that I feel as though I got screwed on… Its a long story… But apprantly there was a mold issue with the unit about 20 months ago.. Which caused to owner to replace the kitchen.. Bathroom, carpet, and paint.. Now this carpet is only 1 year old but it looks horrible!!!. We had in the contract for the carpet to be cleaned but even though it was cleaning it still looks very bad and stained.. ( the settlement attorny said that the previous owner is no longer respnsible) The bathroom was so filty and dirty.. I had no idea that a person could leave a place in such a condition and get away with it.. If I had known the place would of been left in this condition there is no way that I would of purchased it.. And I am not over exaggerating when I say that it was REALLY REALLY BAD…

Basically I would like to is there any way for me to get compensated for not being told about this mold issue from 2 years ago.. bc honeslty I cant deal with this place and all of the cleaning needed to be done… Stained carpet …
39 holes in my wall where pictures use to be hung
Filty bathroom. (Can only be cleaned so much)
Smelly Closets… And the smell will not leave!
For this guy to have recently replaced everything in the condo… you could barey tell…

Is there anything I can do.. Please help

There’s a few issues here and you may want to start with a good real estate attorney, which you should have had to assist you with the transaction in the first place. Frankly, it sounds like you bought this place without ever even looking at it.

You should have been informed of the mold issue before you signed the contract, if you weren’t informed, then you may have a case.

However, things like dirty bathrooms and smelly closets are not things that any judge is going to give you compensation for.

  2. Basically when you when one buy anything especially real estate one should check it out. Evidently you did not have a certified housing inspector inspect the house. You have by your own admission said the house smelled. So you have no one to blaim but yourself

  3. You are on your own here. If you closed the purchase without making a final inspection, you bought it as it is, filthy and dirty. If the kitchen, etc. was replaced and the mold issue remediated properly, you have no complaint there either. A repaired issue need not be disclosed.

Sounds to me like you now realize you made an error, and are looking for a loophole to get yourself out of that error. Not going to work.

  4. At the very least, arrange a consultation with a real estate attorney. Discuss the fact that you were never informed about the mold. It sounds as if you bought the property "as is" which may or may not be a deal breaker. That’s why instead of getting our unprofessional opinions on this Very Important Transaction, you need to consult a Real Estate Attorney.
